SUMMER'S STARE
Insights on SUMMER’S STARE:
“The morning after a first date – the first date – has you slowly stare at the ceiling, as the morning blinds you, and you begin to recall the night before. There’s a replay that’s like a sort of highlight reel that goes on and on, and you’re kind of wondering if it all really happened. Like modulated synth pads immersing you in a dream, even while you’re awake, the emotions that brought hands together for the first first time and presaged that resolving sense of the first kiss just kind of take you back to those moments when you felt like this is going to work, and have you truly look forward. That anticipation, y’know, that unfamiliar heartbeat… all of those things make that next morning truly unreal. We went in the summer, under its high heat and fleeting low tones, to the sunset beach and fell in love. I don’t know, there’s just something special about the last first date of your life, when you just know that the search is over, and life has finally just begun, that I tried to capture here, a bit with the lyrics, and a bit more with the music itself.”
