Insights on HER MOONLIGHT WINDOW:

“So, this track is about Dot, for Dot.

“I was doing some sound design on my Clavia Nord Lead 3 and Clavia Nord Drum 2, and it was one of those afternoons where she was working late, and I missed her. Between the sounds I was designing and the fading sunset coming in from my view of the valley below, deep tones of melancholy just really had their way with me. So, a chord progression came out as I crafted the sound, and it worked for my mood. The next thing I know, I’m telling myself, ‘Press record!’ The subtle, slow drums beat kicked in, and then I knew what else was missing. I needed a sax. So, I went into a really old version I have of NI Kontakt on my computer and found a great sax sound, then I ran it through one of my reverbs and a compressor. I improvised the lyrics as I thought of Dot… I was direct, and in spoken word, I recorded my vocals in one take. Finally, I went back and improvised the sax, and the song was done. She’s a mystery. She really is, and I love her so.”
